About Us

Peace For All International Development Organization (PFAI) is a registered Canadian charity (BN85776 9558 RR0001) based in Kitchener, Ontario, and locally registered as an NGO in Uganda (S.5914/7156) as Peace For All International. Started in 2007, PFAI is a grassroots organization promoting peace and healing in post-conflict environments. PFAI currently works with communities in Uganda, Nepal and Canada on peacebuilding and sustainable development initiatives aimed at reducing poverty and gender discrimination, increasing human rights and participation in governance, and cultivating human potential.

Mission statement

To enhance the socio-economic, political and environmental welfare of people through civic, health, and labour education; environmental stewardship; economic empowerment; and peacebuilding.

Goals and objectives

* To empower communities, cultivate human potential and reduce obstacles in order to facilitate community-centred approaches to peacebuilding, sustainable development and political participation.

* To reduce poverty and discrimination, build self-sufficiency and independence, and foster human solidarity and the revival of tradition and culture

* To unite groups together for a common objective: Peace

Strategy

Peace is not only the absence of war, it’s a state in which one attains physical, economic, political, spiritual, and social security. Based on a community’s self-identified needs, PFAI works with communities to:

* address economic needs by initiating sustainable, micro-enterprises that are managed by the community;

* promote cultural revival by initiating activities and programs that help alleviate the effects of trauma caused by war and structural violence and support the physical, social, and psychological needs of the community;

* promote non-violence and tolerance by initiating peace and conflict resolution mechanisms focusing on individual and community healing;

* promote individual and community post-conflict healing through the use of traditional and other culturally appropriate justice systems;

* improve community participation in local governance; and

* establish partnerships with NGOs, community based organizations (CBOs), and local governments in order to secure funding and resources for self-identified projects.
