Why Uganda when conflict has ended?

Post-conflict reconstruction is one of the most critical stages of development, and sadly, it is the period most often neglected by NGOs and development agencies. After 22 years of intense conflict in northern Uganda, areas like Pader District are now struggling with extreme poverty and trauma and other psycho-social issues. Like most post-conflict areas, northern Uganda is on the brink of slipping back into conflict if organizations keep pulling out.

Post-conflict reconstruction is long-term, and PFAI is planning to stay and help in places like Pader District. Will you stay with us?

What is Peace?

Peace is not simply the absence of war. To PFAI, it means feeling secure, having food to eat, clothing to wear, and a roof to sleep under. It means living without fear of violence. It means being empowered. It’s living in communities where women and men participate equally. It means a place where youth voices are heard.
